Hello friends,
The HST warning light is constantly on when I am operating my bx1500. I believe that this light should not be on since it is not supposed to be hooked up to anything (apparently the US tractors do not come with the sensor), but the light just comes with the panel assembly.
I've guessed that it must be grounded out improperly or something like that. This tractor is 5 hours old and there are no electrical modifications. I just need some input as to whether or not my guess is right and how to keep it from lighting up. Or maybe it does come with a sensor? I checked the transm. fluid and everything looks good. Any suggestions?

I believe your assumptions are correct, there is no sensor for that light on your tractor. Check the wiring that is under the seat, one of the un-used, un-connected wires (red I think) is likely grounded. I've heard that the US tractors don't get that sensor, only the wiring harness and bulb.

I checked underneath my seat(the tractor)and there are no unused wires. There are two switches under the seat, one that cuts the engine when the seat comes up, and another that does something when the seat is all the way forward (that is - if you are looking underneath the seat and the seat is leaned up as far as it can go)
Another thing - My tractor cranks if the emergency brake is not on and the literature says it shouldn't. Could this be related?

I don't recall anything in my manual about it not cranking with the emergency brake not applied, only if it's in gear (hi low range select lever) or if the PTO is engaged.
The wiring I was referring to is not attached to the seat. It's part of the wiring harness that lays on the HST or fuel tank with the seat lifted. Any word from the dealer?

David ...Thanks for the clarification ...I'll check the wiring again when I get home. The dealer is as perplexed as I am about the HST light. I'll call them up and let them know whats going on once I resolve it so that any future customers will have an easier time.
The parking brake confusion occured when I was readin the BX-series brochure and it talked about the "operator presence" feature whereby the engine wouldn't start unless the operator was seated, the pto disengaged, neutral gear and ........ the parking brake was applied.
I'm more concerned with the HST light because I believe the parking brake comment was an error or something was lost in translation.

Ok,
So I found the wires below the seat. There is a red/black female/male pair and a blue and white female (I assume for the unused sensor). If I could find where the HST light is grounded, I could disconnect it and see if that was the problem (current backfeeding). Does anyone know where the the HST light is grounded?

The blue/white is the HST sensor wire, according to the wiring daigram (for a BX23). It is the ground for the bulb. Power to the bulb comes from the oil pressure light / hour meter power lines up under the dash. They are switched at the ingintion switch.
Does the light still come on if you make sure the Bl/Wht from under the seat isn't grounded?

That blue/white ground is definitely not grounded ...it is taped to the outside of a large conduit of other wires.
I know that the glowing light is meaningless, but it is driving me insane.
I changed my profile, so I'm going to stick with it a while longer and if you could send that wiring diagram and anything else that would be killer.

Problem Solved! Thanks to the wiring diagram David sent me, I was able to make a diagnosis:
1. My HST had the same colors as the fuel warning light, according to the diagram.
2. Along with this, I kept saying to myself, "Wow, the dealership must have really done me right as far as leaving me with a full tank of gas, my fuel warning lamp hasn't even begun to light ....."
And so I filled the tank with fuel (after I ran out of gas in the front of my property, a nice little walk back to the garage and back to get the fuel) and the HST light went off, and I switched the lights and all is well.
I also realized that my tractor ran awfully cool, I had never seen the temp guage move. I then realized that it wasn't hooked up (the 3 prong hookup and brown wire were just dangling - I figured a part of some accessory I didnt have). It didn't just fall out either. I had to reroute the wires so that I could reach it and hook it up, and it appears to be working properly (showing the engine warm) as well lighting up when I run the tractor at night. Again, the wiring diagram led me to this ...
I wonder if this is the dealer or Kubota that failed me? Do the tractors arrive at the dealer wired and ready? It was no big deal once I figured it out, but ....
anyway ....thanks for all the help and my membership fee for this site has already paid for itself.
